We were asked to repair and rejuvenate this antique wooden house sign, belonging to a pair of Victorian semi-detached houses in Nottingham. Firstly the lettering was traced and redrawn, improving upon the letterforms and spacing whilst retaining the character of the original work. The sign was then carefully sanded, and the metal straps repaired. After being allowed to fully dry out it was then repainted with oil based primer, undercoat and marine grade gloss top coat, before careful hand painting of the new lettering in off-white signwriting enamel.
